Good Luck

When it was the middle of May

I couldn’t help but long for that day

Just waiting for a simple introduction

Not ready for this cruel seduction

Well good luck waking up today

When yesterday was already a blur

And I can’t help but be shaken

When all I wanted to be was stirred

When it was the middle of June

I just wanted it to come soon

Waiting simply meant doing something

Not ready for sleep I thought of nothing

And say goodbye to those around you

Because everyone just wants to go

And you can’t help but feel forgotten

When all you wanted to be was known

When it was the middle of July

I couldn’t help but no longer want to try

Waiting took a turn for the worst

Not ready for this feeling of being cursed

Well good luck getting answers

When you’re getting the run around

And I can’t help but feel like I’m falling

When all I wanted was to be on the ground

When it is the middle of August

Will I be able to help that I’m in lust?

No longer waiting, but rather walking

Not ready, apparently. No longer talking…

Well good luck with your endeavors

When you could have had something good

And I can’t help but feel happy

When all I did was all I could

Commotion

Looking for her number, I try not to remember

Physical during the day, but emotional at night

Perturbed in the same way, but disturbed when it’s all right

Looking for an answer, I try and just remember

How it felt to be, just once, more than a dying ember

And it’s really all too easily taken care of

And we’d all like to be apart of what we mistake for love

Jumped was the gun, to lead us down for the count

Fell by the wayside to things more paramount

And we long for a body that ends up being anybody

Where exactly was I going to go? And what would I have done?

Sitting here I can only contemplate if you were the one

Stopped by a word, and then turned on a dime

Can’t find a way to give us all just a little more time

And we act out our feelings with ridiculous pantomime

I want to get up, and you want to get out

But just stop and think that you forgot what it’s about

Smoke and mirrors, covered by jokes and fears

When you discover what it is you’re looking for

Be sure to tell the rest who simply just want more

Like a book I can no longer read, or a song looped inside my head

All that remains of her and us will surely soon be dead

And if what’s hanging from these walls, could give you a call

Would you pick up and answer with the purest sincerity?

Or would you ignore the ringing and embrace barbarity?

My guess is no one’s told you how beautiful you are

Because you keep looking at me like I’m bizarre

But it isn’t that you are new to this notion

Rather it’s the fact that I keep repeating the motion

That’s why you’re there, while I’m here swept up in commotion

Once another hour passes you’ll surely give in to the masses

But the spots won’t come off of these dirty glasses

You’ll still give into their drink, as they tell you want to think

Social norms will undoubtedly be your tomb

As they swoop down on your creativity and slowly consume

White washed away, down into a stream of grey

Mixed up in the days, and lost in the fray

Footsteps through the snow is all you seem to know

As the wind sweeps you up, and I’m still blown away

These rose-colored glasses keep my focus off yesterday

A World That Isn't Mine

I am aware that I haven't written much lately, and that's because I'm working on something bigger. The third part of my short story should be out by the end of the month at the latest. Even if I wanted to write smaller stuff right now, I'm finding it difficult. I did however write this which is a tie in to the story coming soon.
Enjoy.

I wake up from a slumber that never really was

I don’t quite know how I got here, and I only have “because”

I no longer have an interest in what everyone else here does

I can’t say I want what’s here, but I know I want what was

Waking up into this world that isn’t really mine

I’m under the impression that everyone still thinks I’m fine

I know my world and theirs have begun to intertwine

And how this story will end, I cannot define

Adaptable I must be because I know not what to do

I’ve seen you in both worlds but cannot quite construe

The nature of your existence or the love I have for you

All I know is it’s my fault, and you only did what you had to do

And I'll return to you one day, whether you like it or not

I’ll return and prove to you I haven’t forgot

I’ll make sure to heal your wounds, because it’s only your love I’ve sought

I only hope you’re still around, so that all of this isn’t for naught

I a world that isn't mine, my dreams are vividly gray

In a world that isn’t mine, I speak but don’t know what to say

In a world that isn’t mine, while my heart falls for dismay

In a world that isn’t mine, I long to escape back to you one day

Smiling Now

And so it goes…

It continues to follow

And no one knows

Why it just won’t up and go

I follow her, but I’m years behind

Tracing footsteps in the snow

She seems to creep into my mind

Why won’t she just up and go?

I’ll be digging for bones shortly

I’ll be dreaming so sweetly

She’ll be haunting me quietly

And she’ll be doing it so discretely

Memories don’t fade

The get disfigured and distorted

And everything I’m remembering now

Isn’t what was initially reported

I look towards the horizon

And it all looks crystal clear

You have entered my vision

And I’m glad that you’re now here

I’ll forget what used to be

I’ll be dreaming so sweetly

She’ll have to stop haunting me

And I’ll forget you indiscreetly

You’ve lost, and it’s time to leave

And I’m ignoring your remarks

I hope me message is received

While you walk off into the dark

And so it goes…

I no longer follow

And everyone will know

That this smile if from watching you go…
