Awkward Pauses

Go on and just be great

And try ignoring the fact that you’re too late

Because when minor stresses

Start causing second guesses

You’ll suddenly know where your heart is

Go on planning your future

And try opting out of being useless

But when awkward pauses

Become contract clauses

You’ll suddenly know where your heart is

Go on and choose to walk away

And try thinking you’ve still got something to say

But when missed opportunities

Become obsessed proclivities

You’ll suddenly know where your heart is

Go on and try to count the years

And try to understand you’ve found my fears

But when subtle remarks

Can’t produce chemical sparks

You’ll suddenly know where your heart is

Go on and pick up your heart

And try asking how did this all start?

But when stolen glances

Can’t land you second chances

You’ll suddenly know where your heart is

Go on…

And try to go and stay gone

Because when useless excuses

Become daily abuses

You’ll suddenly know your heart is done
