Devour Desire

As he awakes, he removes the sheets from his bed

As he moves to get up, he searches his head

Reaching out for his vision, he sees only her

And standing up to the day, she devours his desire

Taking a step in a direction, he’s waking the day

Taking a step towards it, he’s determining what to say

Reaching out for the temperature, he feels only her

And as the water pours down, she devours his desire

Walking out he covers, the things eyes would only judge

Walking out he discovers, all he really needs is a nudge

Reaching out for something to hold, he wants only her

And as each door is opened, she devours his desire

As he awakens to the day, he stands tall and keeps going

As he moves to do his work, he hears his thoughts slowing

Reaching out for that daydream, he dreams only her

And when she can’t quite hear him, she devours his desire

Returning from a day that made his head age

Returning to that empty bed now setting the stage

Reaching out for the sheet, to try and cover up her

And closing his eyes to that day

Another he had to remember

As she devoured his desire…
